Service Areas
Kauffman Builders is a family-run remodeling company working out of 56 Hatville Road in Gordonville, Pennsylvania, close enough to the Chester County line that our crews are usually on a job site before the coffee has cooled. We have spent more than twenty years remodeling homes across southeastern Pennsylvania, and we built the business around one limit: stay close enough to the work that the owner can stand on the site.
That limit is why our service area looks the way it does. We do not chase jobs three hours away and then send a crew we have never worked with. We build in Chester County and Lancaster County, plus a short list of neighboring communities where the drive still makes sense. If your town is not on the lists below, call us anyway at 717.226.1874; you will get a straight answer, not a runaround.
Chester County, PA
Chester County is where the majority of our projects happen, and it has an unusually wide spread of housing: eighteenth-century stone farmhouses in the south, 1920s Main Line colonials around Malvern and Berwyn, borough twins in West Chester and Phoenixville, and thirty years of suburban development filling the Route 30 and Route 100 corridors in between. A remodeler who only knows one of those does not do well here.
Older homes tend to need the same three things in the same order: a kitchen that was last touched in the seventies, an addition to buy back the square footage the original floor plan never had, and an exterior package of siding, windows, and a roof that all reached end-of-life at once. The newer developments need finished basements, deck and porch builds, and kitchens opened up to the family room. We handle all of it with our own crew rather than handing the job to a rotating cast of subs.

Lancaster County, PA
Lancaster County is home. Our shop is here, our crew lives here, and the business grew out of work done for neighbors in the Pequea Valley before it ever crossed the county line. That history shows up in how we run a job site: quiet, clean, finished when we said it would be, because in a county this size your reputation arrives before your truck does.
Lancaster also has the oldest housing stock we work on. Farmhouses with three generations of additions stacked on them, brick borough rows in Lancaster City and Marietta, and mid-century suburban homes through Manheim Township and Lititz that are due for their first real renovation. Opening a wall in a Pequea Valley farmhouse rarely produces what the plans predicted, which is exactly why the owner is on site instead of on the phone. Bath renovations, additions, porches, and full exterior packages make up most of what we build here.

Select Projects Beyond Chester & Lancaster County
A handful of our projects fall just outside those two counties, and we take them case by case on scope and schedule rather than a radius drawn on a map. A full addition is worth a longer drive; a single door replacement is not, and we would rather say so than string you along. We regularly consider work in the Main Line communities on the Montgomery and Delaware County side of the line, including Gladwyne, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Haverford, Radnor, Newtown Square, and Media, as well as Chadds Ford and the Brandywine corridor. If you are in one of those areas, ask.
